ANNOUNCEMENTS

This morning we are on part two of our series on ―The Power of a Whisper.‖ We know God desires speak into our lives concerning the BIG things, but is He really interested in the day to day stuff? What kinds of things might God desire for us to be listening for?

Pastor Ben is still interested in your ―whispers from God‖ experiences. Would you share them with him please through email, phone call, or a note, ben@harvestcrc.com. Thanks to all who have shared so far!

The Second offering this morning is for Harvest Church’s War Chest, a fund meant to help with day to day life meeting some basic needs as God places them before us.

Next Sunday as part of our time together we will be celebrating the gracious, saving presence of our Lord through the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Children’s Worship will meet this morning for ages 3-6. Kids may go downstairs during the offering.

Sunday School classes for all ages today at 10:45. Classrooms for preschool thru High School are marked. The Men’s class meets in the corner of the sanctuary and the Women’s class in the big room downstairs. Parents of grades preschool through 5th grade, please drop off and pick up your children at their rooms.

Prayer and Praise meets on Tuesday at 7:00. Bring your prayer requests and join with others in the power of corporate prayer. If you are unable to come, write down your requests on the form included in the bulletin and place in the offering or in the Prayer Room.

Coffee Break/Little Lambs meets on Wednesday from 9-10:45 am. All women invited! If you would be interested in helping out with the nursery age children once or twice a month, please contact Marshann Ludema

Ionia County Right to Life Dinner is planned for Thursday, October 13 at St. Edwards Catholic Church here in Lake Odessa. The speaker will be Barbara Listing, President of Right to Life. Individual reservations are $20, or table of 8 for $160.00. See the flyer on the wall by the kitchen for further information.

Mark your calendars for a health and wellness event you will not want to miss! Stop in at the church on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 6:00 pm. Sherri Van’t Land will be sharing a way for you to have more energy, lose weight and improve your health. Con-tact Sherri for more information (693-3063).

The Fellowship Team is looking for new members. The group meets once a month to plan fellowship aka ―fun‖ events for the church body. If anyone feels gifted in this area and is able to join the committee, we would greatly appreciate it!. We especially need guys. Contact Becky Oosterhouse (269-986-0110).

ANNOUNCEMENTS
This morning we begin our church-wide look at “The Power of a Whisper.” Along with Sunday sermons various small groups will be studying the subject together this fall. It’s not too late to jump into a group! Contact Pastor Ben.
Also this morning we have the privilege of installing the new office bearers: Dave Beach and Mike Van’t Land as deacons; Joel Pepper as elder. A big thank you is extended to our retiring officers: Doug DeVries, Drew Bomhof, and Pat Bartlett

A notebook is available in the Prayer Room where you can record the answers you have received to specific prayers. This is another way to encourage others and to rejoice with one another in the blessings of God!

The Fellowship Team has planned a line dancing game night for adults this Friday, September 30 at Jr. Gallardo’s building on Tupper Lake Road, Lake Odessa. Dinner is at 5:30; sloppy joes, buns and drinks will be provided. Please bring a dish or two to share. A hayride (weather permitting) is also planned.
Men With Tools Work Forms were placed in each mailbox and on the bulletin boards upstairs and downstairs.. If you or someone you know has a repair need, please fill out the form and put it in Jason Flohr’s mailbox.

This morning we conclude our series on Jeremiah with a letter he sent to a group of Hebrews that had been carried off into exile to Babylon. What would such a letter contain to any of us in the middle of our own personal exile experiences?

Consistory meets this Wednesday at 7:00. Pat Bartlett hosting. Both the new members coming in and the members going off are urged to attend this meeting.

“Power of a Whisper” church-wide experience will begin next Sunday. There will be a month of sermons on the subject followed by small group discussions as scheduled by the various groups every other weekend. If you are not a part of one of these groups and would like to be, contact Pastor Ridder.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

What was the secret to Jeremiah’s persistent ministry? What was behind his tenacious endurance in the face of so much opposition and apathy? That’s what we’ll discover this morning.

The second offering next Sunday will be for our missionary support.

Children’s Worship will meet this morning for ages 3-6. Kids may go downstairs during the offering.

As part of our worship today we receive again and again of our Lord through the sacrament of Holy Communion. All are invited to participate who:

 Humble themselves in repentance before God considering their own sin.

 Trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation believing their sins are forgiven wholly by grace for the sake of our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross.

 Resolve to live in faith and obedience with his neighbor.

Children who profess a faith in Jesus as Savior are also welcomed.

Congregational Meeting following the service today for the purpose of electing officers. Nominations for deacon are Dave Beach, Eric Stoel, and Mike Van’t Land. Vote for two. Single nomination for elder presented for affirmation: Joel Pepper. All professing members of Harvest Church 18 years and older are eligible to vote.

Sunday School begins next Sunday for all ages, except the pre-school class. Preschool class will begin when we have a teacher for that age group. Anyone willing and able to take those young souls under your loving wing in that setting, please talk with Ken Oosterhouse.

Back to School Bash this afternoon from 2-6 pm. Will all the 2:00 station heads please meet with Jason Flohr at 1:30 for your instructions.

Sunday School Teachers Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night, from 7:00 to 7:30.

Fellowship Purpose Team will meet on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.

This morning we continue to look at the life and times of Jeremiah. The excellent life of faith calls us to be truth tellers against the flow of readily accepted lies and deception. See Jeremiah in action as the prophetic voice of God, disturbing the “peace” that was but a pipedream.

The second offering this morning is for the War Chest of Harvest Church.

Children’s Worship will not meet this morning.

Next Sunday as part of our time together we will celebrate communion with our Lord through the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.

Congregational Meeting next Sunday following the morning service for election of new officers. Nominated for deacons are Dave Beach, Eric Stoel, and Mike Van’t Land (vote for 2). Joel Pepper will be presented as the single elder nominee for the purpose of affirmation.

Back to School Bash here next Sunday from 2-6. There is still needed some station workers for the various booths. See the sign up sheet on the back table.

Outreach Purpose Group will meet this Tuesday at 7:00.

Discipleship Purpose Group will meet Wednesday night at 7:00.
